Je me prΓ©senteβ¦.
Bonjour! Je mβappelle Anna.
And Iβm American with a deep connection to French.
β³ Between my 18 years of experience teaching children and adults, 33 years as a French speaker (since age 7), and a π©π»βπPhD in French linguistics, I have a giant collection of teaching materials to bring the language alive and create a space where you will find motivation, encouragement and confidence as you build your French skills. πΊοΈ Iβve lived abroad, traveled around the world, moved many times, and have found ways to stay connected to the world as my family finally puts down roots. π‘
π©π»βπ« Iβve taught middle and high school French, college level French, elementary school (3rd grade) French Dual Immersion, kidsβ summer camps, adult classes, and private lessons both in person and on Zoom. And most recently Iβve been exploring how to teach French to my own children and husband as well as coaching multilingual families on how to incorporate their languages into their lives in a way that fits them.
β€οΈThis is what I love most about teaching π₯°
π¦ the patterns and structures of languages,
π¦ the differences and variation that are natural between regions and speakers,
πͺ π« the creativity we can have when learning and teaching a language,
π how children are less self-conscious and more daring,
π¦ watching students of all ages grow as they become more comfortable,
π¦ having a lesson plan but being flexible to see where things lead.
Language takes practice and repetition. Itβs about building vocabulary and understanding patterns (pronunciation and grammar) to be able to effectively communicate. Building your language use and ability is also about finding who you are and being willing to make mistakes and grow from them. We can work on speaking, listening, reading and writing depending on what your needs are and how youβre wanting to use the language.
Why work with me?
Youβll get
π£οΈ a tailored plan based on your reasons for working on French and your history
