I’ve worked with
The French Foundations Refresh
I feel like Anna opened the French language to me in a whole new way with the IPA. It’s as if the secret code to learning the language was revealed to me. Now I understand how to pronounce new words without Anna, but I look forward to taking more classes with her!
-Bérengère
It is a beginning to pronunciation using IPA for guidance. Making time for French, consistent regular practice all help. I’m speaking to myself !
-Susie
I took French in school, have used language learning apps consistently as an adult, and have traveled extensively, but Anna's approach was something I had not seen before, that gave me a new way to make sense of and practice the language while gaining confidence!
-Kristin
Anna is passionate about getting her students to understand and practice the proper way to pronounce the various sounds in the French language, especially those that are not used in English. This is not something I would have been able to pick up from Babbel.

Join us for the Spring 2026 French foundations course for adults - Prêt(e) à partir!
We have been meeting weekly on Thursdays 11:00am-12:00pm Eastern on Zoom for 8 weeks beginning April 2nd. The plan is to continue with this time unless the group agrees otherwise.
This session’s class is for those remembering, imagining or planning a trip to France (or Francophone country).
We will be role-playing scenarios you will find yourselves in. You’ll have more opportunities to speak with others in our community, getting you ready for the outside world.
And you will have opportunities to plan a trip, whatever stage you are in. I’ll be sharing tips along the way based on years spent in France.
Be one of the 1st 10 to register and receive a $50 discount at $397!
Afterwards, it’s $447.
And an additional $50 discount if you have a child or grandchild registered for the current children’s class, On voyage!
Each 8-week session of the French Foundations Refresh is designed to bring my adult students together and build the common skills that are relevant to them at this time.
It is an opportunity to see what they have in common, grow from each other’s questions, and practice with members of the Minimax Maison community.
It unites speakers of varying levels to create a common foundation where they can see, hear and feel the language — how it’s both pronounced and written.
It’s the perfect introduction, refresh, or deepening of your expression in a curated space to foster your growth and build community connections.
The live zoom will have opportunities for small group interaction.
Recordings and extra activities will be provided so you can practice on your own.
You will have access to our Padlet classroom and Circle community where you can continue to connect and grow.
And you are welcome to Anna’s weekly office hours for any questions or practice.
Past topics have included:
Winter 2026: From pieces to phrases through children’s picture books
Fall 2025: Practical pronunciation practice with the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet)
Are you and your kids getting ready for travel this summer?
Several of the families I am working with are, so let’s get the kids together and practice. We will play with the language, learn handy words, act out scenes, sing songs, read simple books... all in French with a little English mixed in for support.
The course is a combination of group and one-on-one lessons.
The group meeting is planned to meet 5 times roughly every other Saturday for 45 minutes at 1:30-2:15pm EST from April to June : April 4 & 18, May 2 & 16, June 6. This will be an interactive time together where we will move, act out things, practice speaking and do fun activities. It will not be a lesson where the kids just sit.
Note: It is possible that we would meet on a different day or time depending on those who register first, so please take part in the poll to weigh in on times that work for you, especially as you are all in different time zones. I will confirm dates as registrations take place.
I will do 5 mini 25-minute one-on-one Zoom sessions with students on weeks where we don’t have a group class. This is so there’s more regularity and things can be tailored to each child. Note that if you are local to me in Connecticut, it could be in person. I will make arrangements with you depending on schedules.
This combination of group classes and private lessons will get your child ready for travel! Plus, you get the private lessons at a discounted rate (already factored into pricing):
$275 for the 1st child ($75 off of $350)
$225 for 2nd or 3rd child from the family ($125 off of $350)
Thus, if you have 2 kids, it’s $500 total.
See the visuals on pricing if you have 1 or 2 kids.
EITHER/OR
If for some reason, you want to only do group classes or only one-on-one lessons for your child, that is possible. Let’s talk about what is the best fit for your child.
For the group, it’s $150 for the 1st child and $100 for subsequent children in the family.
For one-on-ones, a pack of 5 lessons is $200 ($40/lesson instead of $45 if you did it à la carte).
You can always decide to add lessons or the group class later, but registering now for both together saves you $75!
DISCOUNTS
Got another child? The 2nd child get $50 off the group class. Just select 2nd child for the discount.
Got an adult French learner/speaker? The adult French Foundations Refresh this spring - Prêt à Partir (ready to leave) is the counterpart to this class, so if you parents or grandparents want to get involved, too, I’d love to see you in that Zoom course. You’ll get $50 off your registration when you register with a child.
Recordings will be available so you can stay on track if you can’t make a class live. You can always schedule a quick chat with me to talk about what was missed.
Extra activities will be provided so you can practice on your own.
You will have access to our Padlet classroom and Circle community where you can continue to connect and grow.
The class will be capped so that this remains a small group, so register now!
Join or welcoming community for
the upcoming session,
especially if you have plans to travel!
And if you have kids,
they can do the kids’ zoom
at the same time!
Reviews from private lessons
Anna is a great French teacher! She can scale her instruction to various skill levels. She's responsive to student needs, adapts to unique learning goals, and is flexible with scheduling.
-Kyle
Anna has been a kind, patient, and skilled teacher. Her precise pronunciation allows me to (usually) follow the conversation and she has given me helpful instruction on my pronunciation.”
-Linda
“Anna is a kind and patient tutor who makes learning French an enjoyable experience. She brings a vast collection of resources to each lesson and thoughtfully tailors every class to meet your individual needs. She explains concepts clearly, adapts to different learning styles, and ensures you feel supported every step of the way. Beyond teaching the language, Anna is passionate about fostering a sense of community and helping her students connect with French culture. I highly recommend her.”

I would like to really thank Anna for her help in preparing my son for his college level French placement test at such a short notice. She's friendly, dedicated, and knowledgeable. After giving the curriculum to her, she was easily able to prepare a lesson plan & sprinkle in a mix of listening, speaking, and grammar practice into each of her lessons in the short time frame we had. She supplied us with helpful links, notes, and other resources (videos and audio recordings) to help my son practice his French immediately after learning it. In the end, my son was easily able to test out of two semesters of college-level French thanks to her help. I'd definitely recommend her to anyone who needs touching up in anything French-related.
-Rajesh
Anna is great! I'm a History graduate student who had a rather specific need (I needed to learn how to read and translate French accurately and quickly, not speak or write it). She has been invaluable in offering valuable solutions and working with me throughout, especially with my rather hectic schedule. She is kind and understanding, and has been the best tutor I've had thus far after trying several others! :)

More interested in private lessons,
one-on-one (child or adult)
or as a family together?
Let’s do something more tailored.
-
Most of my students meet with me weekly, some twice a week, and some bi-weekly. Consistency is best, so I recommend more regularly/often, but we are also realistically building this in to our lives. What feels doable now?
-
Depending on schedules, we can do 30-minute, 45-minute or 60-minute lessons. Or even longer. Length depends on attention span, availability and budget. So let’s come up with something that works for you.
-
On Zoom or in person.
Zoom is convenient and is often chosen even by local students, who then periodically come in person. Often I prefer to do in person with kids if possible, especially since my studio is designed for language play.
